Dance Moms

For awards, Mackenzie gets 2nd Place for her division - that's good. Maddie also gets 2nd Place. That's bad - Abby counts on her as the one kid she can win with. Nia and Kendall earn 5th Place, and that's not so good either. Uh oh. The group routine? "Biggest loser on the stage." That's 2nd Place in Abby-speak.
So in this episode Abby goes on speed dating. Which *shudders* is a really frighting thought only matched by Abby's little dance she does after dismissing the girls. Ew Ew Ewwww....

Episode 8- "You've been unfriended"
Chloe is back! But not on the pyramid. At the bottom is Nia, Paige, and Kendall. In the middle is Mackenzie and Brooke, at the top is of course Maddie. Brooke receives a solo (yay!) called "care less" which Abby obviously gave to her because she feels Brooke could "care less" about dance. Sadly, everyone's favorite BFFs are not getting along this episode. Kelly claims to have texted and called Christi several times, but Christi says she didn't get any of them. I'm gonna have to be on Christi's side with this one...
Abby refuses to call Chloe by her name. She calls her "blondie" or "girl". Wow, Abby you're so great with kids. Really. Overall, the solos went great. Abby has nothing negative to say when she came into the dressing room. Brooke danced with passion. And Maddie's solos was good as always. And while Nia and Paige's duet was a little childish and peppy, Abby was pleased. The group dance was amazing and jazzy.
At the awards, the kids dance to "Gangnam Style", and Jill decides she's "still got it" and dances as well. Possibly, scarring Kendall for life. Thanks Jill, we all really needed to see that. Omg! The perfect ending. Everybody won 1st place on everything at Nationals, every solo, every group dance....except for precious little Maddie. Chloe beat her. Chloe got first place and Maddie got second. Can. You. Believe. It?????? Amazing. My jaw dropped while watching it. Chloe deserved it. Well, I think so...little miss Kendall might not. I am starting to dislike Kendall. "Chloe doesn't deserve it," she says. Oh please. I retract my statement below. But, Kelly might leave!! And take Brooke and Paige with her! NOOOOOO!

My dirty little secret is that I like to sew.

I own a children's fitness franchise. We teach preschoolers health and fitness.
What do you think your child is learning most about while competing in dance competitions around the country?

What have you learned most about while being involved with this dance company and traveling to the competitions?

Favorite style of dance to perform?
I love to perform musical theater, because you get to use many different faces and personality. I also like to perform lyrical, because it is soft and gentle and sometimes dramatic, and it tells a good story.
Favorite style of dance to watch?
Jazz, lyrical, musical theater.
What other hobbies and/or sports do you participate in?
I don't have time for anything else!!! Although in the summer, I like to swim (and if our hotel has a pool, that's a bonus)! I also love to read and write stories.
Do you hope to be a professional dancer one day?
I would like to be in a dance movie like "Center Stage."
If you don't end up being a professional dancer, what other job would you like to have?
Pediatrician.

Hard work pays off! And I have to be super organized to dance while I keep up with my schoolwork.

Tuesday, August 7th Episode-
So let's start with the pyramid. Paige was not present because she and her mom where at the doctor getting her foot checked out. :( On the bottom in order from right to left was Paige (because Abby says she was stupid and hurt herself), then McKenzie (because she wasn't even in the competition), then Chloe (because she didn't have a solo, so it was hard to judge her, then Brooke, followed by Nia, & of course on top was Maddie. The dances this week were- McKenzie solo- "You Know You Love It", Maddie solo- "This Is Me, Over You", Brooke solo- "Anne Frank", a group dance- Allweeta (that french song I can't spell, and then finally after 9 years of begging Abby has allowed Paige and Chloe to do a duet together. Sadly, this all comes crashing down when Paige walks in with a broken foot. She can't dance for 4-6 weeks. So of course Jill sinks her claws into this opportunity & has Kendall replace Paige in the duo. Kendall is also allowed in the group dance. Brooke's back has been hurting & of course her solo has a lot of acro in it, so Kelly isn't sure if Brooke can do the solo or not. It's too bad too because I was really looking forward to Brooke's dance, she never gets solos! So now on to the competition. The group dance was really cute, I liked the costumes, but it wasn't the best dance I've seen them do. But it wins 1st place anyway! Yay! Then McKenzie does her solo and it as cute as it can be, she does a lot of flips & I LOVE her facial expressions. Then Maddie goes, I swear if I have to watch Maddie do another one her identical solos I'm gonna scream! Every single solo I have ever seen Maddie do is exactly the same, same face, same moves, same type of music, and same outfit just in different colors! Ahhhh! Brooke's mom pulls her solo at the last minute, but of course Abby, sweet kind-natured Abby yells at Brooke saying she's just afraid she's gonna loose so she's faking the injury! The jerk. Chloe & Kendall then do there duo which I absolutely loved! It was so good! It was different then anything they've ever done before. McKenzie's solo comes in.....2nd place!!! And Maddie comes in 1st place. Yeah, whatever. & Chloe & Kendall come in 1st place in the duos and trios. So all is well in the Dance Moms world. Until Abby decides she wants Maddie to do her Drop Dead Diva routine in front of everyone. WE GET IT ABBY YOU LOOOOOVE MADDIE! MADDIE'S AMAZING! GET OVER IT! So, of course this upsets the moms. Abby then randomly calls Chloe a sneak. Why? Can someone tell me? Did I miss something? & tells Maddie she needs to "relish her success because in 5 years she could be untalented. Just look at Brooke!" Brooke's face is heart breaking and of course Kelly pulls out the mama bear claws. Abby, you are a terrible person with no heart. And Brooke is 10 times as talented as you.

For close to 20 years I have worked as an educator in an independent school setting. I am currently a principal at a middle school.
What do you think your child is learning most about while competing in dance competitions around the country?
Expect the unexpected. You never know what will happen.
What have you learned most about while being involved with this dance company and traveling to the competitions?
Surprisingly, like many aspects of life, dance is political. Dance can be beautiful and dance can be ugly— sometimes at the same time.

Acrobatics.
Favorite style of dance to watch?
Jazz.
What's your favorite thing about dance?
Dance is great exercise, it is energetic and you can never stop doing it.
What other hobbies and/or sports do you participate in?
Karate, swim team, playing instruments (drums and piano), chess, arts and crafts, playing with my friends and my pets.
Do you hope to be a professional dancer one day?
Yes, I want to be a Rockette so I can do those high kicks.
If you don't end up being a professional dancer, what other job would you like to have?
I would love to be an artist.

This week's episode (Tuesday 24) was full of drama and dance. First off, guess who comes walking back through the door? Jill. (ugh) Not to mention her new do. (ugh x2) On to the pyramid. Bottom row from right to left- McKenzie (aw), Nia, Paige. Second row from right to left- Chloe (<3), Brooke) And on top (no supirse here) Maddie. Wow, Maddie on top? Shocker. Abby then announces that they will be attending another Star power competition. The solos are then given out. Maddie, Paige, and Nia all get solos. The girls will also be doing a group dance about a vampire. So Abby adds a....pause for dramatic affect....boy. All the girls are very excited about this....well, not McKenzie. "I think boys are icky. Icky, icky, icky!" -McKenzie. During rehearsal Abby receives a call from the casting director at Drop Dead Diva (eeep!!) She is calling to tell Abby that they will be using......Maddie. OMG Maddie got something big AGAIN?? No wayyyy! She never gets stuff (sarcasm my friends) The moms immediately believe that the whole audition was rigged thanks to Abby. Can't say I disagree. Jill decides she'll interrupt rehearsal again, cause it worked out so well the first time. Abby then proceeds to yell at Kendall, telling her she needs to have some kind of control on her mother. Poor Kendall. I like her. She's a very pretty girl and dancer in my opinion. If only her mom would stop screwing her up. Abby decides that everyone wasn't excited enough about Maddie getting the part. So she calls in all the girls and their moms, forcing them to be happy. Then tells Nia her hair is ugly. Why this came up, I have no idea. So, to defend her daughter Holly tells Abby to look in the mirror and fix her hair and her face and her body. (Go Holly!) I found this very funny. So, as if rubbing Maddie's part in everyone's faces isn't enough, Abby and Maddie feel the need to get out Maddie's crowns and lay them out on a table and show everyone them. That's a great way to make friends Maddie!!! Now on to the competition. Nia goes first with her solo "Working Girl." I was not a fan of it. It was loud and it was fast, but she danced it well. I also gotta give her credit for that death drop at the end. Pretty impressive. Maddie went next with "I Can't Find The Words." Is it just me or all of Maddie's dances exactly the same? They are all soft and emotional and she makes the same face in all of them. (Apologies to Maddie, I've been kind of dissing her this whole episode) Paige's solo, "Crim de la Crim" (Soooo not how you spell that, sorry) was my favorite of the solos. She danced it very well. The top ten solos were then crowned. In 9th place was......da da da.....Nia. In 6th place was........PAIGE! :) and in 1st place Maddie. Yeah ok, big surprise. Then the group dance, which wasn't really a group dance, went on stage. It was Nick, the boy, Brooke, Chloe (<3), and Maddie. It was a really good performance. They danced really well, the dresses were adorable and I loved it. It was really beautiful, and it came in.......1st place!!! :) Whooo! During this episode Paige hurt her foot, so I just wanna say, get better girl!!!
